Research Tip: Wikipedia has a big list of cryptids; that's a great place to look for possible creatures, and there is an even bigger list of legendary creatures, letter by letter. There are also some great books to work with:
- Curious Creatures in Zoology by John Ashton
- Fictitious and Symbolic Creatures in Art by John Vinycomb
- The Mythological Zoo by Oliver Herford
- Mythical Monsters by Charles Gould
You could focus on legends about just one creature, or you could zoom in on legendary creatures from a specific cultural tradition, or you could combine a variety of creatures from different traditions.
