Dorothy's Silver Shoes
One of my goals for the summer is to build up a list of more extra credit reading options, above and beyond what's in the UnTextbook now, and one of the books I want to include is Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. There are so many differences from the movie, and one of the most notable is that the shoes in the book are silver, not red. Here's an illustration by W. W. Denslow; you can read more at Wikipedia: Silver Shoes.
As for the red shoes from the movie, they are in the Smithsonian!
