Different cultures have different names for the constellations that they see in the night sky, and we still use many of the Greek names of the constellations. Those names often connect up with an ancient Greek legend.
Research Tip: You can find some useful constellation books online: Star Lore of All Ages by William Tyler Olcott, Star-Names and Their Meanings by Richard Hinckley Allen, and The Storyland of Stars by Mara Louise Pratt Chadwick. Each of the major constellations also has an article at Wikipedia that will include the relevant mythological legend: Cassiopeia, Orion, etc.
